5 Aftercare Mistakes That Ruin Your Temporary Tattoo

A faded, patchy temporary tattoo usually comes down to aftercare, not the product. Here are the five mistakes to avoid. 1. Washing the paste off too soon The biggest one. Rinsing before the pigment has developed leaves you with a faint stain. Leave it on for at least 4 to 8 hours, overnight if you can. 2. Rinsing instead of scraping When the paste dries, gently scrape it off. Washing it away too early dilutes the color just as it is setting. 3. Applying over lotion or oil Any barrier on the skin stops the pigment gripping. Always start with clean, bare, product-free skin. 4. Soaking it early Long showers, swimming or scrubbing in the first day will lift color before it has fully developed. Keep it dry and gentle for the first 24 hours. 5. Expecting instant color Jagua looks pale at first and deepens over 24 to 48 hours. Do not panic and re-apply, just give it time to reach its rich blue-black. Treat your design right and jagua lasts up to two weeks, henna around ten days. Need a refresher? Read our full aftercare guide or shop a kit to try it yourself.
